看看和尚们都吃什么
过堂。僧尼吃饭都要过堂,早晨、中午到“五观堂”或“斋堂”用食。五观之意为:一是思念食物来之不易,二是思念自己德行有无亏缺,三是防止产生贪食美味的念头,四是对饭食只作为疗饥的药,五是为修道业而受此食。
在过堂时,住持和尚坐在堂中的法座上,僧众在两边就座。饮食之前,先要敲挂在寺庙走廊上的大木鱼,梆和葫芦型铁板、云板。梆是吃饭号令,又叫长鱼。鱼昼夜均不合眼,隐喻佛徒修行也应精勤不息,废寝忘食吃饭中间,如果需要添饭菜,应将空碗送到桌边,由斋堂服务员添,不可出声叫唤,碗筷应摆在桌边放齐。如住持和尚的筷子搁在碗边上,表示他要对大众讲话;筷子放平,即不准备讲话。过去,大寺庙因僧众较多,多用“过堂”形式吃饭,并实行分食制。现在一般小庙,人数不多,多采用四菜一汤共食制。佛教主张过午不食,现已有改变,多数僧尼为了工作和学习,也吃晚饭,叫做“吃放参”。
